Michael Denison
After spending nearly 20 years in the Outdoor recreation world (REI was nearly 10 of that), Michael Denison came to the Financial Services industry in 2014, after graduating from CSU with his MBA, and he started his financial career on the insurance side with New York Life.
A few years into his financial career, he sat down with someone for coffee and during the conversation, after he told them what he did, they asked a simple question: "if you get paid based on the financial products you sell me, how am I supposed to believe you would be giving me unbiased advice?" That question started his transition to where he is now and in 2018, Michael moved to a fee-based planning structure with his clients, also referred to as a fractional family office. This approach allows him to better serve them through truly unbiased financial advice, guidance, coaching, and by helping them quarterback all of the other experts working in their orbit. Shortly after making the transition to this approach, he also started work on his Certified Financial Planner designation and received it in March of 2021.
Michael has always been extremely passionate about teaching and education and this change allowed him to help his clients without them having to worry about sales pitch. That, in turn, allowed him to be a better teacher, guide, and sounding board for their hopes, dreams, goals, and objectives.
He hosts a fun monthly event called First Chair in the winter that combines his love of networking with his love of skiing.
